Test a new venue for London Web Nights

On Wednesday 17th August. We will try a change of venue! Somewhere near Covent Garden.

We will bash our heads together and identify a suitable place and will let you know via twitter and on this blog.

If you have a good suggestion, please drop us a line.

April in London

Welcome one and all to the second London Web Nights.

The Mad Hatter

It's taking place in our fair city 9 days before it erupts into swathes of red, white and blue bunting. We could call this "The Royal Web Nights" but I fear that we may not achieve the highest of standards (knowing those that's have said they'd attend security clearance may be an issue).

There's a Lanyrd page for you to express a preference in attending or tracking us, so make sure you stick your name down..

Web Nights London

The 15th March will usher in a new milestone for Web Nights. On this evening we'll be meeting at The Royal Festival Hall at the Central Bar. We hope those who come along will enjoy catching up with like-minded people interested in 'the web'.

We're in the habit of hosting a relaxed unstructured evening of beer and banter, or wine and winge, or lemonade and laughter. Whichever suits your mood.

So, if you're free on the 3rd Tuesday of the month and are able to attend, we'll look forward to seeing you there.

Feel free to attend the event on facebook.

Riding the crest of a wave

The word is out! #webnights has managed to make two months in a row with attendance of 15+ people. This is totally awesome, we hope all those who attend find value in their time spent together.

If we keep this up and we may be able to encourage some webcelebs to pay a visit and do a talk/show for us and hang out in the pub for a while.

So, if you're just stating to become interested in the web or you're industry mogul, please sign up for the Web Nights newsletter and we'll inform you of upcoming events. Or simply remember "second Tuesday of the month" or, "a week after Winchesterweb" - easy.

See you next time. :)

(btw, the newsletters have been know to amuse, so it's worth signing up for an occasional moment of mirth.)

What a turn out

Crikey, looks like there's plenty of 'web type people' around this neck of the woods.

August's Web Nights was full of some top brass! The interesting conversations including rock climbing, endurance cycling, marathon running were all pooh-poohed for gaming, beer and mocking youtube videos.

A good night was had by all, especially @andij, who took it upon himself to use Web Nights as an excuse to celebrate his birthday!

Next time we "shall" improve the tone of our topics.

A concerted effort

Last nights #webnights was great, but it could have been better. We all know the situation, it appears that the Web Nights group is not expanding outside of our exsisting social group. This was discussed last night and during last months Web Nights, so those that we're there are aware of the kind of thing that was discussed.

There will be an email going out to the 'werock@webnights.net' email list with a number of areas where we feel that can be improved. What we'd like those of you to do once you receive this email is to volunteer for at least one task, along with contributing any ideas that you feel could benefit Web Nights.

The idea is to make this monthly event a little more popular and in turn it will become more interesting for others to attend.

Half way through 2010

Crikey, where did that come from? It's already June and we're heading into the abyss of the World Cup where little or no work will be done during each and every England match. We are all really looking forward to the next #webnights as this will be the Tuesday after the Final, we will hang out on the 13th July at Propaganda and discuss the latest tech to have been exposed during the World Cup.

Bring along anything that helped you to keep up to date with the scores/results/news/punditry etc. Would be great to share the tech.

My Four Favourite Answers

Here's something that should be a bit of a laugh..

It's one of those 'list of questions', 'write your answers' and send to your mates thingies that you've most probably seen floating about the internet before. This one is nice and short, mainly because I can't be bothered to think too hard on a Sunday morning:

1. Link to your favorite tweet/facebook status you read?

2. Link to your favorite tweet/facebook status you wrote?

3. Give us the best YouTube video you've seen.

4. What's your bestest website of the moment?

Four ain't that many, but it'll be good enough to make a few of us laugh/cry.

Copy these questions onto your comment and paste the offending links after the questions, then link this post into a tweet/facebook status to share.
